Happy Fourth of July everyone. Please visit my Facebook page, Daylightbuzz, to see a video of just some suggestions I have when you are trying to celebrate the fourth with your child who is very sensory overloaded.
Four tips I’ve given are:
1. Keep your child indoors. There’s no reason why they have to go outside to see fireworks.
2. Try noise canceling headphones. See if your child will tolerate them and if so, you can subject them to noise in small increments at a time.
3. Take your child somewhere where they can watch the fireworks, but not necessarily be too close to the sound. Wear those noise canceling headphones and have them be indoors to watch the show.
4. Don’t push them if they’re not ready. For them, it’s just another day of the week.
I hope these help.
