A special education teacher’s diary from the last 3 months of school.
- It’s been hard
- I fight for your child everyday
- I am ignored and pushed to the side
- I need to stay in my lane even though it’s wrong
- Some Teachers are set in their ways and won’t stray
- Differentiation doesn’t occur
- Children are spoken to harshly
- Parents aren’t available for meetings
- Homework isn’t completed
- Students need more
- I am feeling defeated
- I can do so much more, but aren’t allowed to
- Parents need a voice
- Students need a voice
- Students need their accommodations
- Teachers need to collaborate
- I work on weekends
- The list goes on and on
- I don’t feel like I make a difference at all anymore
- It’s all about the numbers ….
