Organization

The start of the school year brings change to all the family members. Here are some tips and tricks to try to have a smooth back to school experience.

Parents of younger children have more things to schedule and remember to do because their kids are not as independent as older children are. However littles can still do a lot of things. Have them choose their outfit the night before. Have them help you pack their lunch and snack. Have places for all their items so they can quickly grab them in the morning.

Bedtime and wake up time are so important and affect each other. Bedtime routines and morning routines may have a series of steps that with time and consistency flow quite easily. Dinner then Play then Bath then Story then lights out. Timers and music are great to use for time management. The reverse can be done in the morning. Wake up, eat breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth and hair, grab items and leave for school.

The key is the busier they are, the easier it is to stick to a schedule. Once the family gets used to the routine it will become automatic.

Also, what you do for your child will teach them what they don’t need to do for themselves. Teaching Independence is key.
