Good afternoon everyone. It’s countdown to the end of school and there is a lot to do. Dates and deadlines to get everything done. The dreaded state tests are days away and everyone is so concerned about being the best district, school and grade. It’s sad that we teach to the test versus teach for students to learn and then see how much they have learned through an assessment.
I tell students to take a breath and try. If they know it great. If not, cross off the answers that won’t work and narrow it down to the ones that could. If completely lost, guess. Never leave it blank because it’s automatically wrong.
If students don’t know, we as educators have failed them along the way.
That’s another long post.
Anyway, the year is ending. Do you have plans for your child for the summer? Now is the time to plan.
Summer camps, hanging in your backyard, summer school, horseback riding…..? Whatever you choose will be great.
