The first week of school is finished. Yay or nay? Any questions or concerns should be addressed now through your child’s teacher.
Is the IEP being followed?
How did lunch go ?
Was bus transportation on time?
Did your child use the bathroom?
These are questions you could ask the teacher.
How are the academic classes going? Smooth? Difficult?
The young children need a way to communicate to you how their day went when they get home.
I would create a visual paper that you and your child can look at afterschool each day. It could be filled with the above questions and if your child can answer yes or no they can point.
If your child can do more ask them questions with choices if they get stuck.
Typical children will share all about their teachers and experiences, good and bad, silly moments and things they did and did not like.
The children who have special education needs may have some struggles in the communication area.
I will post on my Facebook page until I learn how to post here.
This is the time to verify your child’s accommodations and ask questions.
This is the time to build trust with the people who will care for your child 7 1/2 hours five days a week for 10 months.
