My draft post was saying it was Monday today. I literally just was in my house planning my Tuesday, which was going to be tomorrow. Now I’ve missed everything scheduled for Tuesday because it’s already happened.

So what happens when you take the girl out of the school system? All track of time is lost. As a special education teacher, I am on a constant timeframe. In the self-contained rooms timers are going off throughout the day. I need to be a clock watcher to make sure I get students out into their inclusion classes or the whole class to their specials or lunch on time. This has been my life for 30 years and it’s so hard to be on vacation and not look at the clock. If I do something just for me like watch a TV show then I look at the clock and I say oh my gosh, I’ve wasted all that time. I still have about 10 years left possibly in the school system or doing something different and I know for a fact it’s gonna be incredibly difficult for me to get out of watching the clock. I have friends who are retired now and they can do whatever they want, and I want to feel like them on my vacations, but I my mind won’t allow it.

All right, so that being said some of us have been on vacation for over a week now going on a second week. Some of us are just beginning our vacation or will in the next couple of days. I am going to once again suggest that for the first couple of days you do let your child do something out of the norm. Don’t sick so closely to those times and schedules, but make sure you’re establishing a new routine for the summer very quickly. Students with special education needs often survive based on being very disciplined and following schedules and just having a consistent structure to follow. In the next coming days, I am going to post some things on this blog so that you can access some schedule suggestions moving forward. Have a fabulous Tuesday, my friends.
