I cannot believe it’s time for another vacation. We get back to school and it takes us so many weeks to get students back in a routine and back into the swing of things and then we have a day off or another vacation. Yes we’re all burnt out. Yes, we all need a vacation, but do we really need a vacation? If we didn’t have to take so much time getting students back into the swing of things because they’re out of school so often we could be so much more productive.
I’ve been a special education teacher for 32 years and I’ve lived these pre and post vacation difficulties for many years. I spend at least two days doing work for school, on vacation, because it’s the only time I get uninterrupted time to get things done.
This vacation my head is swarming with so many ideas to implement for the rest of the year and for the next school year. I feel guilty taking time for myself because when I get back to school I’m going to be upset with myself that I didn’t do more work on vacation.
