Each and every time a student misses school, they fall behind. Academically, socially, behaviorally and even more importantly they lose their independence skills.
Please think hard before allowing your child to stay home. Sickness is one thing, but being tired or allergic or the weather is too rainy or too cold shouldn’t be an excuse. Your child needs to stick to their routines and you as their parent needs to help reinforce those needs.
It’s impossible for a child to make up what they’ve missed. A teacher cannot work with students to make up work to the degree they initially taught the material with. I wish we could. Your child missed the important conversations and crucial teaching lesson that accompanied that work.
I thank those parents who’ve kept their child home when sick. Sickness spreads quickly in close quarters. Please schedule appointments afterschool, if possible. I know specialists like to see patients in the morning so at times this isn’t possible to prevent. Other times, family emergencies or unexpected family needs may impact a student’s attendance.
In conclusion, I would highly suggest your family discuss the reasons to stay home and stick to them.
Here’s to staying healthy!!!!
