Tomorrow is my first day back to school. I’m going in a week early to begin setting up my room. It’s not an easy task setting up a self contained room. There are so many things to set up behind the visible and I can’t tell anyone what to do because it would take longer explaining than doing.
I have two paras and a nurse in my room this year. I want them all to have their own space which is hard because the room is only so big. Tomorrow I am cleaning and rearranging furniture and then starting to decorate.
The students will be the same students I had last year so I know them very well. I want to pick up where we left off without missing a beat.
Independence and learning routines are the two biggest goals for my students. I am excited to begin our new journey this year. Let’s see how many finish lines we will cross and how many hurdles we will jump. The possibilities and experiences are endless.
Please walk this journey with me. I promise it will be exciting and tiring, heartbreaking and heartwarming, calm and hectic, loud and quiet, and the very best room it can be.
